Scientific conferences are an integral part of scientific enterprises. In addition to specific series of publications, international conferences and symposia are the most important forum for scientific exchange. Professors and academic staff at Macromedia University participate actively in this discourse on science. They use the opportunities to present and discuss their own research findings at specialist conferences. At the same time, Macromedia University actively hosts and organizes conferences in media and communications science, media management, sports management and economics, design thinking and innovation management.

As part of an international symposium, Macromedia University of Applied Sciences addressed questions about the future of higher education in December 2020. What are the short-term answers to COVID-19 and what are the longer-term perspectives? Which didactics best strengthen students' future competences? What role will technology companies play in education and what about the competitiveness of European education systems?

On 25 and 26 September 2017, the Macromedia University is organizing the 3rd anniversary of the ad hoc group Media Sport and Sports Communication in the DGPuK. The organizer is Prof. Dr. Thomas Horky, Chairman of the Research Commission at Macromedia University. The conference provides a forum for current research on all topics of (media-mediated) sports communication and phenomena of media sport. For submissions of lecture proposals (with the exception of the topic panel "Randsport", see Call for Paper) no thematic guidelines are made. Therefore, research papers dealing with the topic of media sport and sports communication are presented from different scientific perspectives.

The 17th edition of the International Congress for Sport, Economics and Media will be held at Hafen City University on September 4 and 5, 2017. The congress is organized in cooperation with the International Association for Communication and Sport (IACS).

Macromedia University has supported the "International Congress on Sport, Economics and the Media" for several years now. The Congress is a lighthouse project of international significance in the scientific community. Prof. Dr. Andreas Hebbel-Seeger and Prof. Dr. Thomas Horky are two members of the Macromedia faculty in the Scientific Advisory Board of the Congress. The conference is firmly established as a nationwide research project at the Macromedia University of Applied Sciences. In addition to students from other locations, various professors from Macromedia University are also present as speakers and guests.
