Prof. Silvio Barta teaches Interaction Design at the Hamburg Campus. Building on a degree in architecture from the University of Toronto, Prof. Barta started out by pursuing an interdisciplinary approach within the framework of a diploma course in architecture and design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. While studying, Prof. Barta co-founded The3, a network of architects, graphic artists, musicians, and interactive and online media experts. Prof. Barta has been managing director of the Barta2 Kommunikationsberatung consultancy since 2010, with whom he designs and implements multimedia marketing activities for customers such as Porsche AG, EnBW AG, Fraunhofer Gesellschaft and NASA Space Communications. Prof. Barta's application-driven expertise ranges from 3D modelling, 3D design, interactive design, graphic and web design to video and postproduction.

Prof. Barta, who is Canadian, has been teaching since 2004 and has held positions at the Media Institute, the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences and the SRH Hochschule Calw. In addition to his teaching activities, Prof. Barta has done a lot to further courses in design and has ran numerous projects in conjunction with partner universities in Switzerland, Finland, Scotland, Turkey and Morocco amongst others .

Students at the Macromedia University benefit from Prof. Barta’s extensive repertoire of creative problem solving approaches and his broad international experiences in the industry and academia. He sees design in an interdisciplinary context as a tool for solving problems and driving innovation.
