Where do you work now and what is your job title?
Currently, I work in Mexico City where I established a film production and digital marketing agency with my ex-fellow student and friend Alberto Espinosa invested in creating original, compelling and authentic brand activation and content management for the tourism and hospitality sector. We offer creative visual solutions focused on the sustained growth of small, medium and large hospitality enterprises in Mexico and Latin America.

What are your main duties in this role?
Since I’m the founder and the leader of the company, I’m responsible for the entire workflow, managing the projects, and giving inputs as well as acquiring new business opportunities. 

Why did you choose this role and what motivates you?
I have a strong international background in the luxury hotel industry and digital marketing and I also participated in theatre and film projects so I’m now combining all my relevant skills. My motivation is to fill the visual content and storytelling gap in the tourism sector in Mexico and create valuable and creative strategies as well as leave a lasting impression for brands and properties. 

Did you imagine you would be doing this kind of work before you started your degree?
Life is unpredictable. I graduated two years ago in Berlin and I have already worked a year at a global leading digital company in Amsterdam. Now I’m already in Mexico. So no, I definitely did not. 

To what extent did the university, the university’s partners or the university staff prepare you for the work you do today?
Maybe the most memorable guidance I got is from Prof. Wolfram: You have to sell your project in 30 seconds. That is very true. 

What kind of contact did you have with your fellow students? What do you expect from these contacts in the future?
With Alberto Espinosa, my great friend since the first semester and now my business partner. We will continue to create amazing things not just in Mexico but in entire Latin America too. 

When you think back to your degree, what are your fondest memories? What did you like in particular, and what were you less enthusiastic about?
Within the interdisciplinary project in 2015, my group and I organized a series of very successful workshops and lectures; one of the biggest workshops took place in the Museum for Communication - for freshly arrived Syrian refugees in order to provide them with relevant knowledge so that they could get integrated into the European society. I still talk to some newcomers who already have a job and normal life in Germany. 

What do you understand by “change and transformation”?
My entire life so far: living, studying and working in 6 countries in different languages and in diverse industries. Always something new, who likes monotony?

In your opinion, how important is it to be “open to change” in order to survive in the modern, digitally-driven working world of today and tomorrow?
The most adaptable of the species that survives, not the strongest: being agile, curious and persistent. 

Do you have a goal in terms of where you would like to be in 10 years’ time?
To continue my incredibly exciting life. The rest will come. 

Is there any advice you would like to give to our first-year students?
Be persistent and positive, learn languages, live abroad, move out of your comfort zone and don’t be afraid of dreaming super big.
