Occupation following studies: Account Manager, Microsoft Deutschland GmbH
Where do you work now and what is your position?
Microsoft Deutschland GmbH, Account Manager
What does your role entail?
I manage a portfolio of upper midsize market target groups across all Microsoft technologies, services, services and contract types.

Why did you take the position and what inspires you?

I am particularly impressed by the company itself: As one of the big players in the IT industry, Microsoft is a key driver of future-oriented topics. Especially what's known today as the fourth industrial revolution, which is driven by topics such as Big Data, the Internet of Things, Predictive Maintenance etc., it is great fun to bring these topics to German  upper midsize market target groups and be a part of this change.

Did you imagine you'd be doing this kind of job before you began your studies?

I always knew that customer contact would be a part of any future job and I wanted to work within a team in a big corporation. But I didn't know if it would be in a sales or marketing role.

To what extent did the university, the cooperation partners and the university staff prepare you for your professional life?

The practice-oriented content and business projects that we covered in the course of our studies, gave me a good idea of what I could expect out in the working world.

How was your contact with your fellow students? Are you still in touch today?

I always found the exchange with my fellow students very helpful. Even now, when I have to prepare for job interviews or go into salary negotiations, I find it very useful to be able to compare professional experiences, salaries and other activities.

When you think back to your studies, what really stands out? What was particularly good and what aspects did you not like so much?

I really liked my time with my fellow students, which was unfortunately often interrupted by the less pleasant learning and writing phases ;)

What do you think about "change and transformation"?

It's an unstoppable and also necessary process that will comes whether we want it to or not. So it's better to be prepared for it and go with the change at your own pace, than to be overwhelmed by it later.

How important is it to be "open to change" to be successful today and tomorrow in the modern, digitally driven world of work?
It's indispensable!

Do you know where you want to be in 10 years time?

With Microsoft I know I have found a company that will help me develop and grow really well. So I hope I'll still be here in 10 years time, but hopefully back in Stuttgart

Is there any advice you would like to share with our freshmen?
It's very important to use the practical semester to take a good look at a company where you think you'd like to work later. It is such an easy way to build a network within a company
