But strong brands can do even more: they influence purchase decisions, ensure a long-lasting customer relationship with follow-up recommendations and are therefore critical success factors for companies in highly competitive markets. It is therefore no wonder that the value of a company is also significantly determined by the value of its brands. Brand building and development is therefore always an investment in the future. This calls for highly qualified management.

Successful brands always have a unique selling point, symbolise a certain performance promise and represent not only products or services, but also companies or well-known personalities. In addition to established channels such as TV, print and outdoor advertising, digital channels are now an integral part of the media mix of large advertising campaigns and give brands a new home with new possibilities for staging and measuring success. A major brand without a presence in social media would be unthinkable in this day and age.

The strengthening of communication with customers is the most important factor. Through viral campaigns on the net, the sharing of purchasing experience and product evaluations, opportunities are opening up for recommendation marketing. The skillful co-ordination of all these channels needs to be learned and requires a high degree of expert knowledge.

Contents of the brand management programme

In this Bachelor's programme, which is currently being carried out in Berlin, you will receive practical and theoretically in-depth training to operate successfully in national and international business. You will acquire knowledge in the fields of media, communication and management.
 
Our experienced professors will provide you with everything you need to know about contemporary brand management and the interplay of complex brand structures. At the same time, you will learn to implement comprehensive communication strategies in meaningful and emotionally effective marketing campaigns and to create target-group-specific media plans.
 
You will carry out trend and market research projects, develop practical measures for print and outdoor advertising, implement radio, TV and cinema commercials and design online advertising. Among other things, the curriculum includes:

  • Advertising psychology
  • Performance marketing and social media
  • Special topics of brand communication and advertising

High practical relevance during your studies

During the entire Bachelor's programme you will be taught by professors with extensive practical experience. In our frequent training projects you will apply your theoretical knowledge directly to real-life tasks. In addition to the practical exercises, you will take part in top-class workshops and excursions. Depending on the task, you will work in teams with fellow students from the media, journalism and management courses.
 
You will also have the opportunity to present your results to the respective industry partner in a final presentation. With our network of more than 500 renowned companies as industry partners, we offer you an ideal entry into a company or agency during your internship semester. Internship

Macromedia cooperates with a large number of renowned companies where you will spend a full semester as an intern under the supervision of your professors. This is a very important part of the course which will give you the opportunity to gain your first practical experience and to start networking with the industry.

Fully accredited semester abroad

Students who study Media Management with specialisation in brand management gain intensive international experience during their studies. They spend one semester at one of our worldwide and renowned partner universities and collect 30 ECTS, which are fully recognised.
 
The curriculum abroad is tailored to the requirements of your media management studies with a specialisation in brand management. This makes the semester abroad a full academic semester and you will continue to be supported by our professors. In this semester you will make valuable contacts, gain experience abroad and perhaps even make new friends for life. In any case, you will intensify your language skills and learn to adapt to other cultures and ways of thinking.

In our Brand Management programme, you can also select the awarding university for your bachelor’s degree. The options are:
  • Macromedia University: B.A.
  • University of Westminster: B.A. (Hons)
  • Additional Degree: Earn the German B.A. degree along with the British B.A. (Hons)
 
 

Macromedia University: B.A.

With Macromedia University, you will receive a German state-approved B.A. in Media Management with specialisation in Brand Management. This programme is taught in English and integrates practical elements and international experiences.  
 

University of Westminster: B.A. (Hons)

This Bachelor’s study programme is offered through our strategic collaboration with the University of Westminster in London. In this programme, you will be studying in Germany with the same students on the Macromedia University programme while being enrolled at the University of Westminster. Upon graduation, you will receive the globally recognised B.A. (Hons) in Brand Management from the University of Westminster.
 
Studying the excellent curriculum validated by the prestigious University of Westminster while benefitting from direct exposure to the industry in Germany means that you get the best of both worlds.  
 

Additional Degree: Earn the German B.A. degree along with the British B.A. (Hons)

If you choose the University of Westminster option, you can also earn an additional German B.A. degree.
 

Benefits of the Additional Degree

  • Earn two internationally recognised Bachelor's degrees in seven semesters
  • No need to meet the German admissions criteria. You have to fulfil only the UK admissions criteria to be eligible to join the Addition Degree track
  • Write only one B.A. thesis for the two degrees

 
How does it work?

After you successfully complete the sixth semester of your B.A. (Hons), the University of Westminster awards you their accredited Bachelor of Honours degree. If you wish to boost your academic profile further with a German Bachelor’s, then you can enrol for the additional seventh semester in the corresponding Macromedia Bachelor’s track.
 
Upon successful completion of this semester, you will receive the German state-recognised Bachelor of Arts degree from the Macromedia University.  Unlike the regular German undergraduate degrees, you do not need to fulfil the German admissions criteria to join the German Bachelor’s track. You only have to fulfil the UK admissions requirement specified by the University of Westminster.  
 

Career prospects after graduation

Your Bachelor's degree qualifies you for a professional position in strategic and operational marketing. Potential employers are international network agencies, creative agencies, media planning agencies and marketing departments in companies at your study location as well as at other locations both in Germany and abroad. Straight from the Bachelor's degree to the Master's degree

Your Macromedia Bachelor's degree already fulfils the formal requirements for admission to the Macromedia Master's programme. After the 7-semester Bachelor's programme including a semester abroad and 210 ECTS credits, you can complete your Master's degree in just 3 semesters.

Since our Master programmes are not consecutive, they are also open to interested students with a bachelor degree in a different subject. This means that you can freely choose your specialisation in the Master's programme regardless of the subject of your Bachelor's degree. The Bachelor's degree in Event Management offers the following specialisations in the Master's programme:
