Bachelor's Degree in Film and Television with specialisation in Film Directing: Take stories from scripts to the big screens

The names like Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas or Steven Spielberg immediately evoke in our mind the images of pure magic these accomplished directors have brought to the big screen. They all have a common talent: transforming fantastic ideas into reality. Do you also dream of lighting up the screen with your artistic signature?

Film directors have the eye to capture the subtlest of expressions and at the same time, they can captivate us with larger than life stories using the mash-up of sounds, sights and all kinds of emotions. Are you also passionate about telling stories and transforming visions into visuals? If you aspire to be at the focal point of film-making, the Bachelor Programme in Film and Television with specialisation in Film Directing is the perfect match for you.

Whether it is for cinema, television or internet, directors are all-rounders who are responsible for the creative realisation of a film from the very beginning to the end. They make all the important artistic decisions, mobilise the entire crew and take into consideration every technical detail to ensure a great outcome. If you're not just a passionate moviegoer, but also have a knack for pulling the strings and pursuing creative challenges as a film-maker, then you should study the Bachelor specialisation in Film Directing at Macromedia University. Please note that this programme starts in the Winter Semester.

Course content and your competencies

The skills and competencies that you acquire during your studies are diversified and cross-disciplinary. The curriculum of the Film Directing specialisation is quite comprehensive in that it blends the basics with an all-round knowledge together with adequate practical competence through practice projects.

Researching, writing, developing and implementing - these are the most fundamental tasks of a director. But the key success factors of directorial work is the ability to lead, mobilise and motivate the actors, the crew and the experts involved. Here is the overview of what you will learn in the course:
  • Fundamentals of directing
