Bachelor's degree in Acting (B.A.) in cooperation with Cours Florent
Starting October 1, 2019, Macromedia University of Applied Sciences is partnering with the prestigious acting school Cours Florent to offer a state-approved Bachelor of Arts degree in Acting, in either English or German, in Berlin.
Applicants must successfully complete the
Cours Florent acting workshop or an (online) audition to qualify for admission to this undergraduate programme.
About Cours Florent
Actor and teacher François Florent founded the renowned Cours Florent acting school in Paris in 1967. Its alumni include world-famous actors Diane Kruger, Audrey Tautou, Isabelle Carré, and Pierre Niney.
Florent developed an innovative approach to teaching acting that focuses on each student as an individual, nurtures their unique talent and hones their skills through a hands-on approach. The aim of the training provided at Cours Florent is to fully equip 21st-century actors with the independent skills they need to meet the industry’s evolving demands.

Bachelor’s degree in acting: Study acting with academic substance
The practical relevance provided by the professors and lecturers is an intrinsic feature of this study programme. Besides the classic course content, the professional modes of communication and group processes that prevail in the acting industry are also covered in the curriculum. Social skills are developed in modules focusing on scene work as a key means of strengthening students’ abilities to interact with partners on stage. This degree programme also presents the opportunity to participate in projects and workshops in Paris and connect with the Paris faculty and representatives of the European theatre and film scene. The 6th semester of the 7-semester B.A. in Acting is a practical semester during which you will gain practical experience at the Cours Florent in Paris.
The degree programme can be completed in either 7 semesters (including a practical semester) or 6 semesters (without a practical semester) and is currently in the process of gaining accreditation (as of April 2019).

Admission requirements
Cours Florent runs exclusive one-week English or German
acting workshops in Berlin for aspiring actors, with or without previous experience. Prospective applicants considering enrolling in the Acting B.A. in Berlin beginning October 2020 will meet the admission requirements by successfully completing this acting course.
The following requirements apply for admission to the B.A. in Acting at Macromedia University:
- Higher school leaving / college certificate or equivalent educational qualification (as recognised by the Ministry of Culture)
- Applicants with a regular school leaving certificate will be considered for admission based on their performance in a selection process evaluating artistic talent (creative tasks and general knowledge test)
- Successful audition at Cours Florent (or online audition) or successful completion of the Cours Florent acting workshop in Berlin
- Personal interview (online or in person), submission of application documents
