This is how Europe communicates: Master students visit Brussels

How does the European Commission’s way of working look like? What are the important topics? And who else within the EU power centre is communicating with each other? Our Master students from Hamburg tried to find answers to this questions during their excursion to Brussels with Professor Dr. Dominik Pietzcker.

Three days in Brussels and one stuffed time plan for the Master students in the field od Media and Communication management. Many thanks to Prof. Dr. Dominik Pietzcker, expert for political communication, who shared his impressions with us. #youchange

“The program is intense and versatile. Within the timeframe of only three days the students got to take part at a press conference of the European Commission, visit the TV studios and most importantly had the chance to talk to experts of different EU sections.

They listened to discussions about trade relationships between EU, USA and China, about the migration policy in the schengen area, the importance of small and medium-sized companies in Europe and the relevance of communication initiatives of the EU. Further topics were: gender equality, health protection as well as air quality in regards to fine particulate debate. The students decided on those topics in advance, while Nikola John and Cornelia Krehbiel were the ones to identify the right contact person and organize the meetings.

The culinary highlight of the trip: The European Commission invited the students to have lunch at 'Kafenio', a greek restaurant.”
