Passionate about integration and job opportunities: Macromedia awards DAAD Prize to student from India

Macromedia University awards the DAAD Prize for foreign students to the Indian student Prerna Lahiri. Campus Director Prof. Dr. Beate Wilhelm presented the prize endowed with 1.000,- Euro at the campus Munich. The private university recognizes Lahiri's special commitment to the integration of foreign students into the German university community and her networking with the German labor market.

„The activities of Ms. Lahiri not only enrich our own university life, but in the long run they will contribute to Germany’s economy”, explains Prof. Dr. Mohamed Badr, Head of Macromedia Media School in Munich. “With her involvement in the Macromedia student council and the introduction of a new English-speaking business talks, she manages to bring people together and facilitate participation. That's why I campaigned for Ms. Lahiri's award.”

Prerna Lahiri: Committed to the community

With age 19, Prerna Lahiri is studying Media and Communication Management (B.A.) at the Munich Campus of Macromedia University. Since her second semester, she has been involved with the student’s council. "Prerna Lahiri shows a high social awareness. In her home country, she volunteered for the non-profit organization HelpAge India for three years. As a representative of her school she was also active in the Human Rights Council of Model United Nation (MUN). This active perspective on the community sets her apart from others. We like to honor that", says Tina Blumenberg, Head of the International Office at Macromedia University.

DAAD Prize: Appreciation of a diverse university culture

The DAAD Prize, which is awarded as part of the STIBET program, recognizes the presence and work of the so called "Bildungsausländer" in Germany. Each university may award the prize once a year. In recent years, Macromedia has awarded the prize to Italian Mafalda Sandrini and Mexican José Alberto Espinosa Fernández. Both studied at the Campus Berlin of the Macromedia University.

Congratulations, Prerna Lahiri.
