Macromedia goes Sochi: Sport students participate at the FIFA football tournament

The fight for the international crown of the FIFA football world cup 2018 will take place in the stadium in Sochi. Nevertheless the student FIFA tournament “Meet the World Cup 2018” is more about international understanding and exchange. Four football loving Macromedia students, three of them of media management field and one from sport journalism, managed to qualify for the Team Europe. With the support of Macromedia Munich the students will be travelling to Sochi from October 14th to October 21st.

During their studies they learned how to report about football, how to market professional footballers and organize their own tournaments. However, during the “Meet the World Cup 2018” the four students will have the chance to stand the test as footballer itself in Russia, Sochi. Florian Kobler and Johannes Wohlfahrt are studying sport- and event management (B.A.), Tino Harth Brinkmann is a sport journalism student and Alex Laimer studies Media- and communication management (B.A.).

Enormous: World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi with 20.000 participants

The four students from Munich heard about the FIFA call and weren’t depreciated by the complicated application process. “Having the chance to play in a world cup stadium was the one thing that appealed us. Furthermore the event is extremely interesting for us from our managing point of view. Great, that Macromedia gives us the chance to be part of it” Florian Kobler explains.

The football tournament is part of the much bigger World Festival of Youth and Students. 20.000 participants from about 150 different countries are expected to discuss sustainable solutions for future global challenges. Also students from Macromedia are accredited and will report for us via Instagram.
