Groupon: Benchmark-Study
What market potential is there in online-couponing? What is characteristic for the business model with the regional shopping- and service-offerings? And is there a way to expand the customer-base? Industry leader GROUPON was curious to get the view of Macromedia Master students to those broad inquiries.

Based on a detailed briefing by the Berlin representative of GROUPON, Macromedia Master students set up a systematic benchmark-study. They classified GROUPON’s sale-structures, interviewed GROUPON customers and described the offering of German competitors. Regular consultations and workshops with GROUPON complemented the students work.

GROUPON was impressed by the student’s results. A publication of the research paper is planned, and the university cooperation will most likely be continued.
