International Welcome Day: New Students From 16 Countries Pick Up Their Studies at Macromedia Berlin

Macromedia Berlin continues to strengthen its position as international media university: in summer term 2017, the university welcomes 43 freshmen from 16 different countries. Together with their German colleagues, students from all over the world will pursue their bachelor or master degree in an intercultural study program at Macromedia University Berlin.

(Berlin) Due to the globalization, intercultural communication has become one of the core competencies for succeeding in the business world of the 21st century - not only in Berlin’s thriving international start-up scene, but also worldwide. Therefore, Macromedia Berlin aims at establishing an intercultural learning environment in order to prepare its alumni in the best way possible for the challenges of today’s working scene. This has not been unnoticed by young people planning to pursue a career in media: on the 13th of March, the Welcome Day for international students, headmaster Prof. Georg Helmstädter and his team were able to welcome 43 newbies from all over the world to the Macromedia Berlin campus.

Students from Turkey, Lebanon, Albania, Italy, Russia, Poland, India, Mexico, South Korea, Tanzania, Pakistan, Netherlands, the UK, Colombia and Venezuela decided to complete an international study program at the Macromedia University campus located in the German media capital. Thus, Berlin’s campus strengthens its position as most important international Macromedia department further. Especially the popularity of the culturally diverse Graduate School programs is growing rapidly: “We got a huge number of interesting applications and are afraid that we weren’t able to accept all of them due to our concept to keep the classes small. But the ones who did not make it this time should not feel discouraged: there is always a new chance to apply again in the next semester“, explains Annalena Storch from the student advisory service.

Overall, 36 aspiring Media and Communication Managers will start their Master studies this summer term. But they are not the only new faces around the campus: two students from Handong Global University, Pohang, South Korea, and five students from the University of Westminster, London, United Kingdom, are taking the chance to participate in a Bachelor exchange program with Macromedia University. Over one semester, they will not only be able to experience the practice-oriented study programs at Macromedia university, but also to enjoy life in the colorful, crazy and unconventional German capital Berlin.
