The MHMK Master School

"All master's programmes have one goal: to qualify students optimally for upscale and executive positions. You will have an integrative and international perspective with all capacities and techniques that are essential for the professional management of media, people, and processes in the future media industry."

Prof. Jürgen Faust
President of MHMK

Producing graduates who manage media products and communication operations, realise design projects and processes, produce journalistic content, lead teams and shape the media sector of tomorrow: Towards this end, the Master’s degree courses teach students the specialist, methodological and management skills of the media managers, journalists and design managers of tomorrow who aim to work in an international and demanding job market. The course is closely aligned with the professional requirements of the media industry and supplies qualifications for senior technical and management positions worldwide.

The lectures are held in English and in German and teach specialist knowledge and management skills in line with the MHMK teaching philosophy of adopting a stimulating and practical approach. According to their specialisations, students use case studies, games and project work to gain tacit knowledge geared towards business and practice and prepare them for entry into professional life. The learning environment is similar to that of the Anglo-Saxon “Master’s degree culture” with intensive and individual supervision, small classes, a high level of student input and career coaching alongside.

Classes always take place from Thursday till Saturday. Following the non-consecutive philosophy of the MHMK Master School, we welcome graduates from all different branches of studies and not only from a media context.
All Master’s degree courses can be studied in part-time as well.

All Master’s degree courses comply with the EU Master Qualification Criteria and the European Credit Point System. They are accredited by FIBAA.

The directors of the MHMK Master School are Prof. Jürgen Faust and Prof. Dr. Dr. Castulus Kolo.

1+3 – The optional pre semester course

Common Master Degree Programs usually require students to collect 300 ECTS points for a successful graduation. While MHMK’s 3 semester Open Media Master program contains 90 ECTS, common Bachelor programs contain between 180 and 210 ECTS, very much depending on the policies of the awarding University as well as the duration of the course.

In case you wish to apply for MHMK’s Open Media Master Program but your Bachelor Degree only consists of 180 ECTS points, this additional course gives you the opportunity to attend an additional 1 semester program and to collect the missing 30 ECTS points. The content of this program has been carefully designed and is based on a mix of selected modules from MHMK Bachelor’s Degree programs. It will equip students with an important foundation of required skills in the field of business, media and communications as well as research and project work. Throughout the course, you will carry out practical projects where the theoretical knowledge will be applied to real life scenarios.
