Macromedia Graduate School

Producing graduates who manage media products and communication operations, realise design projects and processes, produce journalistic content, lead teams and shape the media sector of tomorrow: Towards this end, the Master’s degree courses teach students the specialist, methodological and management skills of the media managers, journalists and design managers of tomorrow who aim to work in an international and demanding job market. The course is closely aligned with the professional requirements of the media industry and supplies qualifications for senior technical and management positions worldwide.

The lectures are held in English and teach specialist knowledge and management skills in line with the teaching philosophy of adopting a stimulating and practical approach. According to their specialisations, students use case studies, games and project work to gain tacit knowledge geared towards business and practice and prepare them for entry into professional life. The learning environment is similar to that of the Anglo-Saxon “Master’s degree culture” with intensive and individual supervision, small classes, a high level of student input and career coaching alongside.

Following the non-consecutive philosophy of Macromedia's Graduate School, we welcome graduates from different fields, not only those with a media background.
All Master’s degree courses can be studied part-time as well.

All Master’s degree courses comply with the EU Master Qualification Criteria and the European Credit Point System. They are accredited by FIBAA.

Concept & Specialisation

Macromedia's Graduate School offers a unique set of Master's degrees through its Open Media Programme. Students can specialize in the areas Media and Communication Management, Design Management or Journalism with several respective sub specialisations as listed below. Students of all three streams study together in a range of core modules while specialising through elective subjects.

It is possible to both have a job and study, and the Macromedia master’s programme shows how. It is organised over three semesters, with classes taking place on three days a week maximum, e.g. from Thursday to Saturday. Working students can combine a job and study easily – more than a third of the complete programme is free of classes, which means this time can be used for preparing and following up classes or for project work and can be allocated entirely as students wish. Master’s courses can also be completed on a part-time basis. 

Prerequisites and pre-semester course

To begin a master’s programme, you require at least 210 ECTS. If you have completed your bachelor’s degree with 180 ECTS, Macromedia University offers the option of obtaining the extra 30 ECTS needed in a pre-semester course.

The pre-semester course is an attendance-based course that starts in the winter semester to ensure you can begin the master’s programme in the summer semester without any difficulty.
NEW: From the 2016 summer semester, the pre-semester course will also be available online.
